Marlene and Emily have shared a connection over a special little mouse. It all started at one of Marlene's shows of the Nutcracker. Emily has gone every year since she was a baby and a few years ago, it really made an impact on Emily. During the beginning of the performance, the King Mouse has a battle with the Nutcracker. During the fight, the King Mouse is struck with a sword and 'dies. Although it is quite sad, the King Mouse waves to the audience as he is taken off stage.
The first time she realized what was happening to the King Mouse, she cried and was super worried about the mouse. And THAT is when her obsession with the King Mouse began. She cried to E after the performance, telling her she was sad about the King Mouse dying. E told her the King Mouse was okay! Emily was relieved! Emily called E the next morning and E told her that she was having coffee with the King Mouse right then! Emily felt the magic. She started believing more than anyone of us ever thought she would.
Fast forward many years later and the magic of the King Mouse still lives inside Emily. Today, E and Papa took Emily to a bakery in town to get some goodies (while we were at the hospital for Damien's procedure). While they were there, E saw a cheesecake that actually had mice on the top. She secretly asked the bakery to box it up and tell Emily that a mouse had left this at the bakery for her.
Emily was absolutely floored. Speechless. She proudly brought home the cake and showed it to anyone she could. She couldn't believe it. She even got her own camera out to capture her very own 'special moment'. I am so happy that Emily and E have connected so deeply over a little mouse. I know Emily will keep a little bit of this magic with her forever.
