We found a great shady spot and basically just hung out all day. The kids loved collecting drift wood and creating imaginary games. They swam, and splashed, and just laughed all day long! It was a craxy day! At one point, Jill wanted to take a picture with Gracie and sat in a tube with her. The tube flipped over and Gracie was under that water for longer than any of us were comfortable with. We all freaked out, but Gracie was okay.
About twenty minutes later, Claire was wearing her scuba mask looking for treasures when she found a pair of designer sunglasses! What a find! We googled them and they were worth a good amount! Gina took a bit longer to come down to the beach because apparently, she had lost her sunglasses. Claire showed her the ones she had found and Gina exclaimed, "Those are mine!" We couldn't believe that Claire had found Gina's glasses! As it turns out (because we're nuts) Jill had accidentally taken Gina's sunglasses earlier in the morning. When she flipped on the tube, the sunglasses fell off. Claire found the sunglasses. Gina let's us know they are hers! It was a crazy moment but it sure was funny!
One of the last things the kids did was go with Damien to a Hawaiian Shaved Ice stand just up the road! The loved it! It doesn't get much more summer than that!
We stayed at the beach for some time until we felt it was time to go. Along about half way along out three and a half hour drive, we stopped in a Bavarian town called Leavenworth. We stop here often on the way back so the kids were excited. We basically do the same thing every time we are there. First, we get heat stroke. I am kidding but it is always so ridiculously hot! Then we go to a fun hat shop where the kids try on a minimum of 20 hats each. Then we find somewhere to eat and let the kids run around a bit before finish the drive home!
We are so blessed to be able to go to Chelan every summer. While the change in hotel definitely changed the rhythm of our trip, it really warmed our hearts and made us feel like summer was never going to end. We can't wait to come back next summer and I think we will have to go back to the Grandview. See you in 365, Chelan!!!
