There are a lot of birthdays in both Damien and my family. Between parents, grandparents, aunt, uncles, nieces, and nephews- I am constantly thinking of gifts for people and putting parties on my calendar in advance to make sure we can make as many as we can. Neither of our families has converted to the 'Monthly Birthday Celebration' where you celebrate once a month the people's birthday that happened in that month. I imagine at some point, that is going to have to happen as the families continue to grow with new wives, husbands and grandkids. At some point, we won't have a choice in the matter.
We were all fortunate enough to find a date where we could all get together for Damien's sister and brother in law's birthday. They actually share the same birthday and Lani graciously offered to host it for them. My kids were really looking forward to getting together with their cousins and we can't believe how many grandkids there are now. Ten and counting! We started the night eating pizza together (Ali wanted everything low key which totally worked for us) and then went back to Lani's house for cake, gifts, and some great time spent as a big family.
We ended up driving to Healdsburg afterwards to spend the night at Damien's parents house. It was fun to wake up with everyone the next morning and have a lazy Sunday together. We only stayed until 3:00 p.m. in order to be able to take Damien's sister back down to San Jose to catch her flight. All in all, we had a great weekend and it was nice to see everyone together again. Happy Birthday Ali and Brad!
