This past Thursday evening, we drove an hour north to Walnut Creek to watch Damien's mom, Marlene, perform in a version of the Nutcracker. Many years ago, she wrote a narration to the Nutcracker and has been performing it ever since. Because Marlene used to be a ballerina and then taught ballet for many years, it feels very natural for her to be on the stage. Every year, the kids look forward to watching "E" (that's what they call her) at the Nutcracker. This year was no different. It was a very nice night and the kids were mesmerized watching the dancers, the King Mouse, and E onstage. The kids both were on the edges of their seats and did pretty well during the hour long show. Claire couldn't help but perform a few ballerina poses and Michael was most concerned about the well being of the mice and the Nutcracker. It was a wonderful night!

The Nutcracker
